One of the great strengths of FBW is its desire to be multi-generational, and that has been evidenced in a very profound way in its Senior Adult Ministry.  We offer the following ways for you to find your home here:

The Happy Circle

This is the flagship of our Senior Ministry, has provided a place of fellowship, good food, entertainment, and ministry for close to forty years.  What started out as a group of a dozen or so gathering together over “pot-luck” has grown to a large and successful ministry averaging anywhere from 150 to 250 people per month this past year.  And, not only do many gather at the church for our monthly meetings, the Happy Circle workers deliver dozens of meals to shut-ins each month, as well.  Meets the first Monday of every month (except on holiday weekends) from                11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., in the FBW Event Center.  We provide a program of information and/or entertainment from 11:00 – noon, and then enjoy a prepared lunch from noon – 1:00 p.m.

Silver Chords Choir

This choir rehearses on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 9:30 a.m. Open to any “senior” who enjoys singing and fellowship! Besides the occasional special music in our worship services, the Silver Chords go on a Choir Mission Trip each Spring to south Texas to minister to "Winter Texans." You do not have to be able to read music to be in this group. The Silver Chords rehearse in the Choir Room.

Thursday Lunch Bunch

The Lunch Bunch gathers every Thursday, beginning at about 10:00 a.m. for a great time of table games, fellowship, and a pot-luck lunch.  The Lunch Bunch meets in the Community Room located in the FBW Event Center.  Anyone who enjoys playing "42" or "Hand and Foot", Skip-Bo, Dominos, Sequence, and other games will feel right at home with this group!

Nursing Home Ministries

Worship services or Bible studies are offered at various times during the week to our senior assisted living facilities in Wylie.

Shut-In Ministries

We have folks that visit, take meals to, provide transportation to and from doctors for shut-ins from our faith family.

Food Groups

Groups of folks that give their time to prepare meals for the Happy Circle meetings, the shut-in ministry, and for funerals of our church family members.

Senior Adult Health Fair

Our Health Fair takes place the 1st Monday of October of each year.  Our seniors are provided with information from around 50 different vendors related to their health and care issues.  Flu shots are also provided, as well as, a meal served to all participants.

Every generation is important at a Church for the Cities and the ministry to senior adults will continue to be a vital facet of what we do.  Whether a senior or one who loves to work with seniors, opportunities abound within our Senior Adult Ministry.
