Kris Segrest

A North Texas Native, Kris grew up in Sherman, Texas. While in high school, he met his future wife Amy. They have two children, Rook (9) and Molly (4). Having achieved degrees from Baylor University (B.A. 1996), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 2000), and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min. 2006) and serving churches in Texas and Alabama, Kris became our pastor in 2005. He attempts to bring orthodoxy, creativity, and home-spun humor into the pulpit each and every week. Outside of his family, he loves the Church, believing it is the hope of the world, and the people he works with the most. In his spare time he enjoys reading, coaching youth teams, watching movies, and eating at really good restaurants. His life’s ambition is to be ‘poured out like a drink offering’, while changing the world.

Allen Stroud
Worship Pastor

Allen joined the FBW staff in October of 1980. He is a native of Texas City, Texas and graduated from Baylor University in 1975 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. He received his Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1977. Allen is married to Sandy also from Texas City. They have two children, Kristen Miller, who with her husband, Scott, have two children, Addison and Ethan live in Sachse and Barrett, who is married to Tiffany and lives in Wylie.  Prior to his coming to the FBW staff, Allen served at Riverside Baptist Church, Stephenville, and Retama Park Baptist Church, Kingsville.

Charlie Busby

Charlie joined the FBW staff in August 2007. He is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Jacksonville State University. He will soon complete his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Charlie is married to Donna Busby also from Birmingham. They have two daughters, Sally Hall, now married and living in Elk Grove, California and Jamie Busby who is attending Auburn University in Auburn Alabama. Prior to Charlie's call to full time ministry, he worked in the business world both in management and as an owner. He uses these experiences to fulfill the responsibilities of Executive Pastor at FBW.

Chad Womack
Missions Pastor

Chad joined the staff of FBC Wylie full-time in November of 1995 as the Minister of Youth and Activities where he served for eleven years.  In January of 2006, he became the Missions and Evangelism Pastor. Chad received his bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University and holds a master’s degree in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University.  Chad and his wife Dani have been married for twelve years and have a son, Conner, who is eight years old and a daughter, Caitlyn, who is five years old. Chad is passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoys taking people on journeys across the street and around the world.

Sandy Stroud
Preschool Minister

Preschool Minister Sandy Stroud has served at First Baptist Wylie for eleven years. She orchestrates the educational programs, preschool leadship and activities for Newborns through Kindergarten. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education with certification in Early Childhood Education. She previously served for 11 years in the Wylie ISD as a teacher in various grade levels and programs.  She and her husband, Allen, have two adult children and two grandchildren.

Derek Draper
Spiritual Formations Pastor

Derek grew up at FBC and joined the staff in 2006.  He graduated from Baylor University in 1993 and played football for the Bears.  He received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997 and completed his Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Derek is married to Renee and they are blessed with two sets of twins: Jackson & Guy and Avery & Anna. Prior to his coming to the FBW staff, Derek served as youth pastor at First Baptist Justin.

Sam Hallman
Student Pastor

Sam has been serving in ministry for the past decade leading students and different mission teams all over the world. His calling in life is to help students realize the eternal impact that they can have. He and his wife Maureen partner to help students understand the truth of Jesus. Sam and Maureen have been married five years and have a daughter  Virginia, born in 2009. Sam is currently persuing his doctorate at the Beeson Divinity School of Samford University.  

Scott Phillips

A former Navy SEAL, SWAT officer, and Federal Air Marshal, Pastor Scott made the next logical step by answering his call to the ministry in 2007, becoming the Children’s Pastor of First Baptist Wylie.  Happily married to his high school sweetheart and the father of 4 boys, Scott loves partnering with parents and volunteer leaders in showing kids God’s love and training them up in the way they should go.  An avid kids coach, sports fan, and martial artist, Scott leads all things 1st – 6th grade at FBW ( except choir! ) and loves every minute of it!
